Coleraine’s town centre business community has shown the strength of local collaboration following Coleraine FC’s success in the Irish Cup. A joint competition between Coleraine Connect (formerly Coleraine BID) and Pandora Coleraine set out to celebrate the moment while recognising someone in the community who truly deserved it.
The prize, a sterling silver engraved tag charm and necklace, marked the club’s achievement, but the real focus was on people. Entrants were asked to nominate someone special and share their story, shining a light on those who make the town what it is.
The winner, Pearlie Cauley, is a lifelong Bannsiders supporter. Now 80, she has followed Coleraine FC since she was 14, attending matches home and away over the years. Missing the Irish Cup final was a huge disappointment for her, making the win even more meaningful.
What followed showed the best of Coleraine’s business community. Pandora Coleraine provided the winning gift, while other town centre businesses stepped in to add to the experience. Moores of Coleraine contributed a gift hamper, Brunch It treated Pearlie and her husband to lunch, and Maribel Florists provided a beautiful bouquet.
To round off the day, Coleraine FC’s Head of Business and Community, Jamie Selfridge, along with manager Ruaidhri Higgins, presented Pearlie with her gifts in person.
It was a simple idea that grew into something bigger, local businesses working together, alongside Coleraine Connect, to recognise a loyal supporter and create a memorable day. Proof that when Coleraine pulls together, it is stronger as one, and that is what you call real team work!
