There is still time to nominate a local sporting hero for the 2026 Moore NI Causeway Coast and Glens Sports Awards, but don’t leave it too late - nominations close at 4pm on Friday 25 September.

From athletes achieving success on the sporting stage to the coaches, volunteers and administrators working tirelessly behind the scenes, the annual awards are an opportunity to celebrate the people who make sport happen across Causeway Coast and Glens.

This year’s awards will culminate in a Gala Awards Evening at The Lodge Hotel on Friday 13 November 2026, bringing together the local sporting community for a special night of recognition and celebration.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, who launched this year’s nominations, is encouraging people across the Borough to make sure their sporting heroes get the recognition they deserve.

“There is still time to put forward a nomination for this year’s Moore NI Causeway Coast and Glens Sports Awards, and I would encourage people to take the opportunity to recognise someone who has made a difference through sport.

“Sport plays such an important role in our communities, and across Causeway Coast and Glens we have so many people who give their time, energy and commitment to help others get involved and achieve their best.

“Whether it is an athlete who has achieved sporting success, a coach who has supported others to reach their potential, or a volunteer who gives their time week after week, these awards are an opportunity to celebrate their contribution.

“There are so many inspiring sporting stories across our Borough and I look forward to seeing those stories recognised and celebrating our sporting community at the awards in November.”

Who can you nominate?

There are 13 award categories, covering a wide range of sporting achievement and contribution, including Services to Sport, Disability Sport, Coach of the Year, Junior and Senior Sports Man and Junior and Senior Sports Woman.

Nominees must live within Causeway Coast and Glens or compete for a team based within the Borough. Individuals can be nominated across multiple categories where they meet the relevant criteria.

The 2026 awards will recognise achievements during the period 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026.

Don’t let your sporting hero go unrecognised

Perhaps it’s the coach who gives up evenings and weekends to help young people develop. Maybe it’s the volunteer who is always there behind the scenes, the athlete who has enjoyed an outstanding year, or someone whose commitment has helped make sport more accessible to others.

If someone springs to mind, nominate them before the deadline.
