Coleraine Connect didn’t come from a quick name change; it came from a clear decision to rethink how the town is represented, communicated, and experienced.

To bring that vision to life, local designer Johnny Lowe was brought on board to create a brand and website that truly reflect what Coleraine is today and where it’s going.

Johnny explained: “Late in 2025, I tendered for the Coleraine BID project, and once it was accepted, I worked closely with the team on something that felt well overdue, a complete rebrand and new website that properly breaks away from the old BID identity and sets a new tone for what the organisation is actually about.

“The result is Coleraine Connect. The brand is built around the old bridge in Coleraine. Constructed in 1844, with one of its original lamps sitting at the heart of the logo mark.

“What I love about it is the detail in the wordmark: the L and I in Connect align seamlessly with the bridge beneath, so the whole thing reads as one unified piece rather than a logo sitting on top of type.

“Beyond the main lockup, the lamp works as a standalone icon and the wordmark holds its own independently, giving the brand a flexible system that can stretch across digital, print, and social without falling apart.

“The palette uses a light and dark blue carried across the website and social channels, keeping everything feeling cohesive. It’s a brand that’s rooted in where Coleraine actually comes from, while looking forward.

Working with the team at Coleraine Connect has been brilliant, good enough that I’ve since joined as a voluntary levy payer in support of the work they’re doing. A full case study covering the brand and website is available at www.johnnylowe.design and I’ll be releasing a behind-the-scenes video later this month on the full thought process, keep an eye out for that.
