It is fantastic to see local business Whoosh continuing to grow after being selected for Lidl Northern Ireland’s 2026 Kickstart Supplier Development Programme.

The Coleraine-based brand is among just sixteen small and medium-sized food and drink producers from across Northern Ireland chosen for the prestigious six-month programme, which gives suppliers the opportunity to see their products stocked in Lidl stores across the island of Ireland.

Founded by Thana Thammavongsa, Whoosh has become known for its bold, authentic flavours inspired by Vietnamese and Thai cuisine.

“We’re absolutely buzzing to have been selected as part of Lidl’s 2026 Kickstart Programme alongside so many amazing Northern Ireland businesses,” said Thana.

“As a small independent food business from Coleraine, it’s a massive opportunity for us and something we’re incredibly proud of. Having started from my one-bedroom flat, catering private and corporate events, to opening our small street food café in Coleraine, to now developing a full range of Whoosh Instant Noodles for retail, knowing that our pots will soon be heading towards 230+ Lidl stores across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland feels pretty surreal.

“The Kickstart Programme is a fantastic development programme designed to help small and medium-sized local producers grow their businesses and gain experience working with a major retailer.

“The process itself has taken several months and has involved applications, pitching, negotiations, seminars, training sessions and meetings with the Lidl team, but it’s been a really positive experience, and we’ve learned a huge amount already. The seminars/ training are still ongoing and will continue throughout the summer.

“For us, this isn’t just about getting products into stores; it’s about seeing customers finally being able to discover Whoosh in a giant retailer like Lidl. As a small local brand, that’s a really exciting moment for us.”

While the business continues to grow commercially, the community remains at the heart of everything Whoosh does. From food festivals and collaborations with Ulster University to supporting local initiatives and events, the brand has become a familiar and well-loved part of the local food scene.

“We try to stay involved in the community. Collaborate and connect. That’s what food should do.”

Whoosh’s success is another fantastic example of the innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit thriving within Coleraine’s business community. It is also a reminder that staying true to your roots and your values can resonate far beyond your hometown.

“We’re not chasing trends,” added Thana. “We’re here, doing what we love. And as long as people keep coming back, we’ll keep doing it.”
