Coleraine town centre came alive on Irish Cup final day as crowds gathered to watch the match on the big screen.
The turnout was impressive, and the excitement was palpable. The event created a shared space where fans could come together and support the Bannsiders.
Leading up to the final, many local businesses joined in ‘Operation Blue and White,’ an initiative organised by Coleraine FC supporters.
Shopfronts across the town displayed club colours with banners, flags, and window displays supporting the team.
Businesses also shared good luck messages, which appeared on the big screen on cup final day.
From the start, the atmosphere built steadily. Supporters of all ages made their way into town, many wearing club colours. The big screen allowed those who could not travel to the final to be part of the celebration, right in the heart of Coleraine.
The result of the match only added to the festivities, but the day was about more than just football. It showed what can happen when the town centre creates opportunities for people to unite and share important moments.
As part of Coleraine Connect’s ongoing efforts to support the town centre, the big screen event highlighted the importance of simple ideas executed well. With such a positive response, it sets a strong example for future events. It's another instance of the town coming together, from decorated shopfronts to a busy town centre. Stronger together is what teamwork looks like.
